Swiss 20 Francs Helvetia Gold Coin Random Dates About Uncirculated (AU)

The obverse of each Swiss 20 Franc features the bust of a Vreneli, formally called a Helvetia Head and colloquially referred to as Swiss Miss. The female personification of Switzerland, her hair is delicately braided and she has a garland of flowers at her shoulders.

Behind her are the Swiss Alps, and above her is the word HELVETIA. It remained so until the defeat of Napoleon in 1803. The reverse of each Swiss 20 Franc features the coat of arms of Switzerlandincluding the iconic Greek crossover a branch of oak and ribbons. It is inscribed with the words 20 FR and the coin's date.

The Swiss 20 Franc has historically been viewed as a safe-haven investment due to low inflation, political neutrality and the legal stipulation that at least 40 percent be backed by gold reserves. Each coin was minted at Switzerland's mint in Bern, and today, the Swiss Franc is the only franc to be issued in Europe.
