Louis XVI, 1774-93, Gold Double Louis d'Or, 1786-D. Obverse: Bare-headed bust of Louis XVI facing left, signed DU VIV on truncation, mint mark Bee under bust, with Latin legend surrounding: LUD. Reverse: Crowned shield of and Navarre, mint mark D below, With legend and date surrounding: CHRS. Has been slabbed and graded by NGC as MS 63 in an old style holder, most likely will grade higher now if re submitted. A superb bold mint state specimen with sharp detailing, tinges of a reddish copper colour tone and lustre adorn both sides especially within the recesses.
