An absolutely exquisite and delicate antique French Turn of the Century ca. 1900 carved gold and diamond necklace from the late Victorian and early Edwardian era.The necklace contains several sections of hand carved yellow gold girondelle / garlands with blossoming rose flowers, petals and flourishing stems along with platinum topped gold bows set with old mine cut diamonds. There is a total of 28 small diamonds of various sizes set throughout the necklace with an approximate combined weight of about 0.20 carats.
The clasp has a french hallmark for 18 karat gold. However, we have not tested the gold content of the necklace itself and the color of the gold is so intense yellow that we suspect it might be of a higher karat, i. Gross weight of the necklace is 15.6 grams and overall length when fully stretched is 45cm (17.72). Absolutely scarce antique collector jewelry piece and one of the rare late Victorian carved gold and diamond necklaces and jewels.
